The Child Who Runs Toward Friendship
The Child Who Runs Toward Friendship
On the weekend we went to our local show.
From a distance, she spotted her best friend.
Before I could even fully register it, she said,
“Mum, can I go over there?”
I told her to go say hello and come back.
They both ran toward each other.
Not hesitating.
Not waiting to be called over.
Not scanning the room to see if it was “safe” first.
Just running.

And I stood there watching — heart full — because I was never that child.
I wasn’t the one running toward.
I was the one waiting to be chosen.
Waiting to be called over.
Waiting to see if I belonged.
I knew people… but I didn’t feel anchored in friendship.
There was always a quiet narrative underneath it all:
Don’t be too much.
Don’t get it wrong.
Don’t assume you belong.
Watching her feel safe — truly safe — in her friendships does something to me.
It heals something.
And it’s not just at the show.
The drop-off drama is a thing of the past.
Just last week, I watched her walk into school confidently. No teacher by her side. No hesitation. She turned, smiled, and kept walking.
She knows she belongs.
And in that moment, I realised — so do I.
It makes me feel proud as a mother.
It makes me feel proud of the environment we’ve created.
It reminds me that shyness isn’t an identity.
It’s not something we have to attach to.
Belonging is something we can grow into.
And that is exactly what this Virgo Lunar Eclipse is asking of us.
The Virgo Lunar Eclipse in Pisces Season
A Double Surrender
This Full Moon Lunar Eclipse is happening in Virgo.
During Pisces season.
At the 12th degree — a Pisces degree.
It’s layered.
Virgo represents:
Our health
Our devotion
Our daily rituals
Our self-care
Our service
Our posture in the world
How we “get things right”
In its light, Virgo is grounded, nurturing, devoted, capable.
But in its shadow?
Virgo can be crippling.
Perfectionism.
Over-analysis.
Self-criticism.
“If it’s not perfect, I won’t do it.”
“If it doesn’t look right, I won’t be seen.”
And Pisces — especially amplified like this — dissolves.
This eclipse is not subtle.
It is asking:
Where has perfectionism become your protection mechanism?
Where did you decide you had to be flawless to belong?
Where did you learn that being critical of yourself kept you safe?
Because that isn’t authenticity.
That’s survival.
And the door is closing on that.
The Doorway Between Stories
This eclipse doesn’t sit alone.
It sits in a doorway.
We are slowly closing the Virgo–Pisces axis storyline, and preparing to step fully into the Aquarius–Leo axis later in the year.
Aquarius energy — especially with Pluto now firmly in Aquarius — is amplifying authenticity.
Community.
Uniqueness.
Belonging without conformity.
Aquarius does not ask you to be perfect.
It asks you to be real.
So this eclipse becomes the bridge:
Let go of perfection (Virgo shadow)
So you can step into authentic belonging (Aquarius North Node story)
You don’t need to fit into every room.
You don’t need to be part of every group.
You don’t need to edit yourself into something digestible.
You belong where you are received.
And sometimes the biggest release is not a relationship.
It’s the version of you that thought she had to earn belonging.
The Question Beneath It All
Why did we think we needed to be perfect to be human?
Why did we think self-criticism was humility?
Why did we believe that shrinking was safer than running toward?
Watching my daughter run toward her friend reminded me:
Belonging isn’t forced.
It’s felt.
And this eclipse is freeing us from the inner narrative that says:
“You must be flawless before you can be seen.”
No.
You can run toward what feels good now.
Self-Care Under This Eclipse
Devotion to Yourself Is Key
As we surrender into this Virgo lunar eclipse, let yourself be held by simple, sacred rituals.
Run yourself a soothing bath — something that nourishes your skin and your nervous system. Add essential oils, oats, salts, or simply warm water and stillness.
Or gather your kids for a playful face mask evening. Pick one up from the shop today before the moon peaks, or mix a little clay from your cupboard and create your own. Let it be fun. Let it be purifying. Let it be imperfect.
If baths and masks aren’t your thing, cook a grounded, earthy dinner. Root vegetables. Whole foods. Something that feels pulled from the soil. Let nourishment be your ritual.
This is devotion.
Not grand gestures.
Simple, embodied care.
As this eclipse dissolves old narratives, allow your body to feel safe stepping into the next chapter.
Reflection for This Eclipse
• Where am I still over-editing myself?
• Where am I trying to be perfect instead of present?
• Where am I staying in rooms that don’t feel aligned?
• What would it look like to run toward what feels safe and expansive?
This isn’t about becoming someone new.
It’s about releasing the version of you that thought she had to be perfect to be chosen.
In 2026, perfection is outdated.
Authenticity is the new devotion.
